LOVE WITH LEILA
Leila first appeared last year in Borderland.
Now find out how our lady-hero came to be.
Leila simply wants to please her parents and lose herself in love but she’s not quite marriage material.
Saturday, Sept. 10, 6 pm
When Leila meets her prince charming, her world is turned upside down. Is love really all it’s cracked up to be?
Laugh, cry and sigh with her as she goes through her first period, first date and first plastic surgery consultation.
Love With Leila has performed to audiences from coast to coast across North America including Stratford, Winnipeg, Hamilton, Halifax, Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary and Off-Broadway in New York City. Hamilton named it Best In Theatre in 2014. In the holiday sequel A Very Leila Christmas, Leila struggles to understand how Christmas works in Canada; she throws a party to impress a cute boy at work. Leila is the fresh queen of Tehran and her hijab brings all the boys to the yard.
The director & Dramaturge
“I first met Leila in 2013 in Izad’s solo show Borderland, about the Iranian gay underground. Leila stole the audience’s heart in that fine piece. Mine, too.
I was delighted when Izad asked me to join him in creating a show for the fabulous Leila herself.”
